    Business Startup Basics Workshops

    Business Start-Up Basics is a PowerPoint presentation of 62 overheads that normally requires about 2½ hours to present. The presentation is intended to educate small business owners in areas that they may not be addressing at present, and to inform those entrepreneurs wishing to start a business of the basic skills and knowledge required to start and operate a business successfully. The presentation addresses the following subjects: Overview of entrepreneurial skills; How to get started; How to select a business structure; Business registration, licenses and taxes; Requirements for business financing; Understanding financial statements and money management; Preparation of a marketing plan; Preparation of a business plan workshops scheduled at area libraries shown below. There is no cost; however, registration at the indicated telephone number is requested.

    Marketing for a Small Business

    The seminar will discuss the importance of marketing in your business success and survival.  You will learn how to identify your target market and to focus on your company’s niche.  We will also explore low cost ways of advertising and getting the word out using email and webpage management.  Market goals, competition and branding will be included in group discussions.  Come prepared to talk about the uniqueness of your product or service and be able to identify in great detail who your customers are.  Price, promotion, place and product will be key areas that participants should come prepared to talk about.

    Whether you are starting a new business or have one up and running, this workshop will provide a guide for developing a plan that will significantly improve your chances of being successful. The workshop will show you how to build a plan that produces a deep understanding of the market and competitive environment in which your business operates; how to develop strategies for providing a competitive advantage; how to generate solid projections of the financial consequences of operating your business; and how to use your plan to monitor and control your business's operations. If you will need outside funding for your business, a first-rate business plan is a must. But, even if you won't, your investment of time and energy in building a good business plan will provide you a substantial return.

    Accounting for the "Small Business- Utilizing Software Applications" provides the basics of accounting terms and principles needed to communicate effectively with lenders, venture capitalist, suppliers, accountants, the IRS, and customers. The workshops objective is to have you know and work with basic accounting terms and spreadsheets. You will be covering cash flow, income (Profit and Loss) statement, and the balance sheet plus having the opportunity to work with current accounting software."

    Allyn Conway (President of ACG Incorporation) will be the presenter. Allyn has been successfully steering the helm of his company during the raging economic conditions. Allyn Conway earned a B.A. degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. His 35 years of business experience began with his first business purchase in 1976 and added another business in 1978. After selling these businesses in the early 1980’s, Allyn became a Managing Director of National Content Liquidators where he was responsible for on-site content liquidation of large landmark hotels. In 1992, he purchased ACG, Inc., a computer retail store and converted it to a seller of business-to-business software solutions, service and support.  Today, ACG helps companies improve internal business processes, reduce expenses and increase cash flow and profits.
